A little about us...
Jon Davis - Owner
Jon has had a passion for nature, the outdoors, and photography since he was 8 and received his first camera, a Kodak 110 with a flip flash. As a long time customer of Wild Birds Unlimited in Aberdeen, he was crestfallen when he received an email in August 2009 from the store’s original owner, William Kastern, stating the store was going to have to close come December due to Mr. Kastern’s health. Jon and his wife Rebecca immediately began talks with William and successfully purchased the store on December 1, 2009.
Jon’s enthusiasm for birding had gone beyond a mere hobby and now he has been blessed to be able to have a more positive and direct influence on other’s birding experience. He can talk for hours on end about birding and above all else, enjoys helping people have the best possible bird feeding experience. He knows first hand what horrible bird feeding can be like with the impossible feeders and cheap seed vs. what can only be described as a pure joyful experience when everything just clicks.
Jon’s favorite feeders are the Dinner Bell (“for its endless versatility”) and the medium Quick Clean Finch feeder (“there is NO better finch feeder on the market anywhere. Period.”) His favorite seed is the Choice or Supreme Blends (“too hard to decide”). And, his favorite bird is the hummingbird. He finds their flying abilities simply mesmerizing and recounts a time years ago when he positioned himself inches from a very popular feeder and in just a few minutes found himself in the middle of a “swarm” of hummingbirds mere inches away from his face. He said that is something everyone should experience.
Nancy Kinney- Sales Associate
Nancy has been a self-professed bird enthusiast for many years now. She has worked at Wild Birds Unlimited in Aberdeen since 2007. She started out as a customer when she first purchased an Advanced Pole Setup, which she says led to a more pleasurable bird feeding and bird watching experience. She is always friendly and willing to help customers any way she can.
Her favorite feeders are the Dinner Bell and the Sky Café. She prefers the Supreme Blend and her favorite bird (“it’s hard to pick one!”) is the bluebird. One of Nancy’s most memorable bird experiences was releasing a newly banded hummingbird at Weymouth Woods Nature Preserve. Nancy is always thrilled when she sees a new bird.
